Ramsey to Take La Senorita and
El Joven Winners To Breeders' Cup (Saturday, October
24, 2009) - Owner Kenneth Ramsey proclaimed "We are going
to California" after his two-year-old filly Lisa's Kitten overcame
serious traffic trouble to win the $100,000 M2 Technology La Senorita
at Retama Park. California as in the Breeders' Cup World Championships
at Santa Anita in two weeks.
Ramsey, along with jockey Julien Leparoux, arrived in San Antonio
by private jet from Kentucky two hours before post time. The plane
ride was less exciting that the trip Leparoux encountered on the
far turn when he was forced to check and pull back to last three-eights
of a mile from home. Lisa's Kitten overcame the adversity and turned
on the afterburner to rally up the rail for an impressive victory
over Winning Tale and Seasoned. Lisa's Kitten, the odds-on favorite
at even money, covered the mile over a soft turf course in 1.39
4/5.
In the $100,000 SKYY EL Joven, owner Ken Ramsey made it two-for-two
as Kera's Kitten impressed with a forceful front running win. Kera's
Kitten took the lead into the first turn and widened its margin
of victory down the stretch against 10 other two-year-old colts.Time
for the mile was 1.39 3/5. An ecstatic Ramsey said after the race
he will ship Kera's Kitten to Santa Anita for the 2009 Breeders'
Cup.
