Lone Star Park Concludes 2026 Thoroughbred Season with Increases in Handle & Attendance
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Sunday, July 12, 2026) - Lone Star Park concluded its 30th Spring Thoroughbred Racing season on Sunday, July 12, handling a daily average of $251,403 in live on-track handle and a daily average of $170,053 in export handle over the 41-day meet, which were both increases over 2025 figures by 2% and 4%, respectively. Attendance for the meet increased by 5% over 2025. Notably, handle and attendance increased for the third consecutive year. Full Story
New World Screwworm Resources from the Texas Animal Health Commission
(Austin, Texas - Thursday, June 11, 2026) - The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) has published a page on its website with detailed information and resources related to the New World Screwworm. There is currently a quarantine in place due to an established New World Screwworm Infested Zone in parts of the following Texas counties: Edwards, Gillespie, Kerr, Kimble, La Salle, Sutton, Uvalde, Val Verde, Webb, Zavala. According to the Executive Director Orders issued, all warm-blooded animals in a zone may not move out of the zone without prior authorization from the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC).
