Asmussen Runs Six in TTA Sales Futurity Stakes Assualt at LSP

(Grand Prairie, Texas, June 6, 2008) - Saturday's 19th running of the $100,000 TTA Sales Futurity Stakes (Colts and Geldings Division) for two-year-olds, to be run at five furlongs, features four promising juveniles trained by Lone Star Park's all-time leading trainer Steve Asmussen. With Belton, Call West, Justwill and Lyin' Heart, Asmussen will be seeking his third win overall and his second in a row in the TTA Sales Futurity Stakes (Colts and Geldings Division). He won this race in 2007 with the Will Farish-owned Namesake.

Justwill and Belton, who will go coupled in the wagering as part of a Heiligbrodt Racing Stables-owned entry, have been installed as the 3-5 morning line favorites. Call West is the second choice in the morning line at 7-2, followed by third choice Lyin' Heart at 8-1. Coble Avenue and Expect Smoke, both trained by Cheryl Asmussen, is also an entry.

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of: Justwill (Eddie Martin Jr., 3-5); Bold Minardi (Ken Tohill, 30-1); Coble Avenue (Tony McNeil, 12-1); Belton (Luis Quinonez, 3-5); Seldan (Martin Escobar, 30-1); Expect Smoke (Roger Gomez, 12-1); Lyin' Heart (Quincy Hamilton, 8-1); Valid Vision (Eguard Tejera, 20-1); Tres Dangereux (Bobby Walker Jr., 15-1); Call West (Cliff Berry, 7-2); J. R. Steamer (Justin Shepherd, 30-1); and Delm (Bryan McNeil, 20-1).

Scheduled as race ten on the 11-race program, the TTA Sales Futurity Stakes (Colts and Geldings Division) has an approximate post time of 6:30 P.M. CDT.

Lightlightlight and Bridesmaid Lead Charge For Asmussen in Fillies Division

Nine two-year-old fillies will line up for the 16th time in the $100,000 TTA Sales Futurity Stakes (Fillies Division) in the first half of the doubleheader for two-year-olds at Lone Star Park on Saturday. Trainer Steve Asmussen will be well represented with Heiligbrodt Racing Stable's Lightlightlight and the Will Farish-owned Bridesmaid in the five-furlong contest. Despite significant trouble in her career debut, Lightlightlight was an impressive winner on May 22 at Lone Star Park. Bridesmaid, who finished a sharp runner-up to second choice Judys Cure in her first start, looks to move forward off that effort.

Asmussen has won the TTA Sales Futurity Stakes (Fillies Division) a remarkable seven times in the first fifteen runnings, including three straight years from 1999-2001 (Maddie's Promise, Louetta and Smoke Buster), and a four in a row from 2003-06 (Bluegrass Sara, Berdelia, Covered in Clover, and Miss Mary Pat).

Asmussen faces two legitimate threats from the Joe Petalino-trained Judys Cure, and the Michael Stidham-owned Truly Lucky. Judy's Cure was a sharp gate-to-finish winner in her career debut while posting a five and a quarter length victory, and Truly Lucky was similarly impressive in winning her second career start by a four-and-a-quarter length margin.

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of: Judys Cure (Eddie Martin Jr., 2-1); Sorensen's Song (Quincy Hamilton, 10-1); Cuvee's Pride (Bryan McNeil, 12-1); Sabra (Tony McNeil, 15-1); The Devil Is Mine (Junior Chacaltana, 15-1); Lightlightlight (Luis Quinonez, 6-1); Bridesmaid (Justin Shepherd, 12-1); Sals Legend (Bobby Walker Jr., 20-1); and Truly Lucky (Cliff Berry, 15-1).

Scheduled as race eight on the 11-race program, the TTA Sales Futurity Stakes (Fillies Division) has an approximate post time of 4:58 P.M. CDT.
