| Back-to-Back Graded Stakes Wins for Master Rick as He Takes the Prize in the Grade III $300,000 Lone Star Park Handicap
Grand Prairie, Texas (Monday, May 27,2013) - Master Rick has done it again! The winner of the Grade III Texas Mile on April 27 made it back-to-back graded stakes wins with his victory today in the $300,000 Grade III Lone Star Park Handicap for three-year-olds and upward going a mile and a sixteenth on the dirt.
Under regular rider, Ricardo Santana, Jr., the four-year-old colt (Master Command – Whata Gem by Maria's Mon) made a bid at the top of the stretch, pulled clear in the final furlong and held off stablemate Prayer for Relief, by a length at the wire.
Trained by Lone Star Park's all-time leading trainer, Steve Asmussen and owned by Richard L. Davis, Master Rick's win today improved his record to 16-4-1-2 lifetime. With the $195,750 winner's share of the purse, he increased his lifetime earnings to $351,363.
Master Rick paid $4.20 and $2.20. Runner-up Prayer for Relief paid $2.20 to place. Formaggio and Isn't He Clever completed the order of finish. There was no show wagering with of the late scratch of Battle Hardened. Final time was 1:42.09. |
