| Five Entered in $300,000 Lone Star Park Handicap (G3) Monday
Grand Prairie, Texas (Saturday, May 25,2013) - Master Rick is back and seeking to up his win streak to three in the 17th running of the $300,000, Grade III, Lone Star Park Handicap on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
Fresh off his win in the Grade III, Texas Mile, April 27, Master Rick (Master Command – Whata Gem by Maria's Mon) is seeking his third straight win and if successful, would give him back-to-back graded stakes wins. The four-year-old colt is owned by Richard L. Davis and trained by Lone Star Park's all-time leading trainer, Steve Asmussen.
Asmussen has also entered Texas Mile runner-up, Prayer for Relief (Jump Start – Sparklin Lil by Mr. Sparkles) in Monday's contest. The five-year-old horse, owned by Zayat Stables LLC, seeks to redeem himself from that defeat by stablemate, Master Rick.
Trainer Henry Dominguez has entered Isn't He Clever (Smarty Jones – Sharp Minister by Deputy Minister) for owners J. Kirk & Judy Robison. The four-year-old gelding comes off a stakes win at Sunland Park in the Bill Thomas Memorial on March 24.
The Lone Star Park Handicap, Grade III, for three-year-olds and upward, going a mile and a sixteenth on the dirt, is scheduled as race 10 on the 11-race Memorial Day program. Approximate post time is 5:47 p.m. CDT.
