He Has Bling Shines in Texas Stallion Stakes Stymie Division at Lone Star Park

Grand Prairie, Texas (Saturday, May 11,2013) - Bred and owned by Hall's Family Trust, He Has Bling proved best today in the 10th running of the $75,000 Texas Stallion Stakes, Stymie Division for three-year-old colts and geldings, at one mile over a fast main track Saturday at Lone Star Park.

Under jockey Miguel Hernandez, He Has Bling (Too Much Bling – Deeya Maria by Stravinsky) was content to race off pacesetters, Meme Jo and Worldventurer behind comfortable fractions of :23.94, :47.91 and 1:13.64. He caught up to the leaders on the outside in the far turn, made his bid at the top of the stretch, battling briefly with Meme Jo, then edging clear for the win. Final time for the mile was 1:39.83.

"He ran his heart out," said trainer Danele Durham. "I told Miguel, when you start coming down the lane, this horse has a lot of heart, ask him and keep asking him and he will give it."

With the win, He Has Bling improved his race record to three wins from 13 starts. And the $45,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his earnings to $94,660.

He Has Bling paid $15.00, $5.00 and $8.00. Runner-up Meme Jo returned $3.80 and $5.80 with Breathethefire returning $13.00 for show. Worldventurer and Tarmac completed the order of finish.

Tastefullyexcessive Takes Got Koko Division for Fillies

Tastefullyexcessive, bred and owned by Clarence Scharbauer, Jr., took the honors in the 10th running of the $75,000 Texas Stallion Stakes, Got Koko Division for three-year-old fillies.

Trained by W. Bret Calhoun and ridden by Lone Star Park's all-time leading rider Cliff Berry, Tastefullyexcessive (Early Flyer – Hadif Cat by Hadif) tracked the pace on the outside through fractions of :24.05, :48.99 and 1:14.38. She then made her bid with three furlongs to go, took the lead at the quarter-pole and held on for the win. A determined Joyful Hannah held on for second with Makeshift securing third. Final time for the one mile race was 1:39.47.

"It was a perfect trip," said jockey Cliff Berry. "We got to sit off the speed, and she was very relaxed down the backside and when I asked her to run, she came."

Tastefullyexcessive paid $5.40, $3.20 and $2.20. Joyful Hannah returned $4.40 and $2.60. Makeshift paid $2.40. Completing the order of finish was Final Song, Open Summary and Lady Sayla. John Louis' Penny was a late scratch.

With the win today, Tastefullyexcessive improved her win record to three from nine lifetime starts and bankrolled $45,000, upping her lifetime earnings to $112,615.

Former Claimer Lillie Abbie Wins Lane's End Stallion Scholarship Stakes

Lillie Abbie, who was claimed just one race back, made herself a stakes winner today by taking first prize in the second running of the Lane's End Stallion Scholarship Stakes for Accredited Texas-Bred, fillies and mares, three-year-olds and upward, at seven and one half furlongs, over a firm turf course.

Owned by End Zone Athletics Inc. and trained by Karl Broberg, the five-year-old mare (Uncle Abbie – I'm a Pine by Robin des Pins) was just up in a four-horse blanket finish, denying Lasting Bubbles, Mescaleress and Shannon’ Phavorite at the wire.

At 12-1 odds, Lillie Abbie paid $26.00, $14.60 and 6.00. Place went to Lasting Bubbles who returned $3.80 and $3.80. Mescaleress finished third and paid $6.40 for show. Final time for the race was 1:30.60, with fractions of :24.09, :48.60 and 1:12.91. Fourth place went to Shannon' Phavorite followed by Smiles Golden Song, Perfect Meadow, Patty's Pride, Shezararebird and Claudia's Mingun completing the order of finish.

With her first stakes win, Lillie Abbie added $30,000 to her career earnings, for a total of $119,629. This was her sixth win from 23 lifetime starts.
