East Meets West in the Middle for Grade III Texas Mile at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, April 26, 2012) - Saturday's 16th running of the $200,000 Guaranteed, Grade III Texas Mile, for three-year-olds and upward has attracted West Coast invader, Canonize, and East Coast invader, Endorsement to take on local star, Coyote Legend.

This year's Mile, has a possible $20,000 bonus available as part of the inaugural running of The Global Gaming Triple. The Triple, links the Texas Mile, and the Lone Star Park Handicap with the Governor's Cup at Remington Park. The bonus is awarded on a point system for those horses that participate in all three races. Points are awarded as follows: five points to the winner, three points to second, two points for third, and one point for fourth place finishers.

Representing the West, and coming off of a stakes win at Santa Anita, is Canonize. The gelded son of Aldebaran, has been installed as the 2-1 morning line favorite by track oddsmaker Rick Lee. He is owned by Jay Em Ess Stable, and trained by Ronald Ellis. Jockey Victor Espinoza will have the riding assignment.

Graded stakes winner, Endorsement, who shipped in from Gulfstream Park, will represent the East Coast. Trained by Eoin Harty, and owned by Casner Racing, LP, the son of Distorted Humor, has been given morning line odds of 3-1. In the irons will be all-star jockey Robby Albarado.

Lone Star Park's 2010 and 2011 season's leading trainer, Bret Calhoun, has entered Coyote Legend, a multiple stakes winner at the Grand Prairie track. The five-year-old son of Gold Coyote, bred and owned by Clarence Scharbauer, Jr., is seeking to add another stakes win to his already impressive record. All-time leading rider at Lone Star Park, Cliff Berry, will have the mount at morning line odds of 9-2.

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of: Lydia's Last Step (Bryan McNeil, 20-1); Fifteen Love (Junior Chacaltana, 30-1); Endorsement (Robby Albarado, 3-1); Get in Da House (Don Simington, 12-1); Oak Motte (Lindey Wade, 20-1); Moonshine Mullin (Luis Quinonez, 12-1); Hurricane Ike (James Graham, 6-1); Canonize (Victor Espinoza, 2-1) Coyote Legend (Cliff Berry, 9-2); and Omniscient (Roman Chapa, 10-1).
