Moneyinmywranglers, Valid Lil Put
Local Unbeaten Streaks on the Line in JEH Stallion Station Stakes
on Saturday (April 18, 2008) - Saturday's 12th
running of the $50,000 JEH Stallion Station Stakes for fillies and
mares, 3-year-olds and up to be run at six furlongs matches the
Sharon Barker-trained Moneyinmywranglers against Valid Lil, trained
by Brett Calhoun. Both are a perfect four-for-four competing over
the Lone Star Park main track.
Moneyinmywranglers proved a half-length better than Valid Lil when
they were both last seen racing in the $50,000 Mission Stakes going
seven furlongs at Sam Houston Race Park on March 15.
"I loved her last race and was very pleased with her effort
because I know that seven furlongs might be too long for her, and
that was only her first start of the year," said Calhoun of
Valid Lil. "Shortening up to six-and-a-half furlongs will be
helpful and she's drawn toward the outside this time, so she'll
get to be more patient and see how things develop."
A winner of eight of 14 career starts, Moneyinmywranglers is seeking
her third consecutive victory on Saturday. "She came out of
the Mission in good shape and she should be ready for better,"
commented Barker. "We're really looking forward to running
her on Saturday."
Two others of note in the JEH are the Steve Asmussen-trained Stealth
Cat, a stakes winning filly who has won five of her 14 starts and
the Kari Craddock-trained Annie Savoy, who leads all entrants in
earnings with $208,720. Sent to post as a betting favorite against
her three aforementioned rivals, Annie Savoy finished third in the
Mission Stakes.
The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds
listed in parenthesis, consists of: Stealth Cat (Luis Quinonez,
5-1); Dusky Blue (Kelsi Purcell, 15-1); Governors Trixie (Cathleen
Garner, 10-1); Moneyinmywranglers (Richard Eramia, 5-2); Authentic
Angel (Jorge Guzman, Jr., 15-1); Valid Lil (Bobby Walker Jr., 2-1);
and Annie Savoy (Justin Shepherd, 7-2).
The JEH Stallion Stakes is scheduled as the 10th of eleven races
at Lone Star Park on Saturday when first post time is scheduled
for 1:35 p.m.
