Annie Savoy Heads Competive Field
in JEH Stallion Station Stakes at LSP on Saturday
(April 16, 2009) - Saturday’s 13th running of the $50,000
JEH Stallion Station Stakes, for accredited Texas-bred fillies and
mares, 3-year-olds and upward, to be run at six-and-one-half furlongs
over the main track, has attracted the Hal Browning-owned Annie
Savoy, who ran third in this event in 2007 and 2008. Trained by
Kari Craddock, Annie Savoy will be ridden by meet-leading jockey
Chris Landeros and has been installed as the 9-5 morning-line favorite
by track oddsmaker Rick Lee.
A winner of nine of 30 starts for $269,209 in earnings, Annie
Savoy was last seen putting in a dominating performance in an allowance
race at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. on February 28.
Set to challenge Annie Savoy are Moneyinmywranglers, a winner
of 10 of 22 career starts, including 4 of 7 starts over the Lone
Star Park main track, Wrenice, victorious in 11 of 20 career starts
and also a four-time winner around the Grand Prairie main oval,
plus Formal Flyer, winner of the $125,000 Texas Stallion Stakes
at Lone Star Park in 2008.
The JEH Stallion Station Stakes is scheduled to be run as race
eight on the 11-race program with an approximate post time of 4:51
CDT.
The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds
listed in parenthesis, consists of: Moneyinmywranglers (Richard
Eramia, 3-1); Dixie Dust (Jose Figueroa, 10-1); Honor Jones (Quincy
Hamilton, 15-1); Formal Flyer (Cliff Berry, 5-1); Wrenice (Curt
Bourque, 5-2), and Annie Savoy (Chris Landeros, 9-5).
