Triple Dead Heat for Win Takes Place Tonight at SHRP
(Thursday, August 29, 2002) - History was made tonight at
Sam Houston Race Park when three Quarter Horses in the third race
crossed the finish line simultaneously. While dead heats are fairly
common in Quarter Horse racing, this is the first triple dead heat
for the win in the history of the northwest Houston racetrack.
With the scratch of morning line favorite, Estejada Chebon, six horses went postward in the 250 yard $4,800 starter allowance. The three entrants that crossed the wire in :13.551 were EW Streakin Jody, Red Ronas Express and Party Marti.
EW Streakin Jody ($7.40) is owned by J. W. Owens and was ridden to victory by Mark Page. Red Ronas Express ($5.20) was ridden by Raul Ramirez, Jr. for owner Geral Dewitt and Party Marti ($3.80) crossed the wire with Alfonso Lujan for Mr. and Mrs. John W. Kahla.
Each of the three winners earned $1,456 for their victory
