Jordan Jumps Into Lead in Retama

L. R. “Tooter” Jordan jumped from third to the lead
all trainers with three victories last week at Retama Park. He has
saddled 10 winners through May 29 during Retama Park's 2005 Quarter
Horse meeting.
Jordon, whose mounts are winning at a 40 percent rate, leads Raul
Ramirez and Rodolfo Sanchez, with 10 victories each. Next comes
Frank Raul Ramirez, who has saddled seven winners.
John S. Buchanan, who captured his third training title in six
years in 2003, is tied with Judd S. Kearl and Alfredo Triana, with
five triumphs each.
Mark Rubalcava continued to increase is lead for the riding title
by guiding home four winners last week. Rubalcava, winning on 28
percent of his mounts, has 24 victories – 10 more than James
Norman Brooks.
Sharing third place in the jockey's race with 10 trips to the winner's
circle are Isaac Chapa and Paul Ramirez, followed by Rodrigo S.
Vallejo (nine) and Juan L. Vazquez (eight).
S A Ranch edged into the lead among owners with four triumphs.
Three others are tied for runner-up honors, with three winners each:
Eusevio Hutton, A. D. Maddox and Stan Nelson.
