$15,000+ Spring Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Stakes and $15,000+ TQHA Sires' Cup Top Weekend Action at SHRP
(Thursday, August 14, 2008) - Sam Houston Race Park will
be home to an exciting weekend of live racing and live music events,
including the $15,000+ Spring Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Stakes on Friday,
August 15 and the annual $15,000+ TQHA Sires’ Cup Stakes on
Saturday, August 16.
The $15,000 Spring Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Stakes, the eighth race
on Friday night’s 10-race card, will feature a field of seven
horses, ages three years and up, racing 550 yards. The field of
seven competitors for the final features Jess Phenomenal as the
morning line favorite at 5-2, with Cash At The Line coming in as
the second favorite with odds of 3-1.
Live racing continues at The Park on Saturday evening with the
$15,000+ TQHA Sires’ Cup Stakes. The race will feature 10
horses, three years and up, going the distance in the 400-yard sprint.
According to the morning line odds, the field of 10 competitors
has This Snow Is Cold as the favored horse at 3-1 and Sin Tacha
Perry as the second favored horse with odds at 4-1. This year’s
line up features the 2007 winner, Sin Tacha Perry, who crossed the
wire last year at :20.02, fighting for back-to-back wins in this
race.
In addition to live Quarter Horse racing events, the Verizon Wireless
post-race concert series on the Bud Light stage will continue with
a performance from country music rising star Dierks Bentley at The
Showgrounds (www.theshowgrounds.com)
on Friday evening immediately following the live racing program.
Live Quarter Horse racing continues with racing every Thursday,
Friday and Saturday in August at Sam Houston Race Park.
