(Thursday, August 13, 2009) - Sam Houston Race Park will host the $15,000+ Texas Twister Stakes presented by IKON Office Solutions on Saturday, August 15, 2009. Favored Jodys Money Pop (2-1) looks to garner his second straight stakes win after visiting the winner’s circle in the $58,410 Bayer Legend Texas Derby Challenge on Saturday, July 11. The three-year-old colt is trained by Dwayne “Sleepy” Gilbreath and owned by Jim Pitts.

“He did really well in the Derby Challenge about a month ago,” commented Gilbreath. “We were really pleased with how well he broke out of the gate and dominated the race, taking a quick lead and never looking back. Although he’s a champ at the 400-yard distance, we think he’ll do just fine in the shorter 110-yard sprint.”

Jodys Money Pop will be ridden by jockey Ricky Ramirez, who has been the consistent mount for this colt.

“I’m comfortable with the colt,” commented Ramirez. “I’ve ridden her in every race, but one, so I think we know each other pretty well.”

The remainder of the 10-horse field going a distance of 110 yards will be Sixes La Jolla, Eye On The Jury, Sought After, XO Kate, Pac N Zoom, JW Rocks, Intergalactica, Ace Cinnan and Surviving Success.

In addition, to live racing events, The Park will continue to hold the popular Value Day and Party on the Patio in the Fun Zone every Saturday featuring outdoor patio seating on the Pavilion Apron area, hot food off the grill, $2 draft beer, misting fans and the Verizon Wireless misting tent, washer board games, giveaways and more.
