Down N Cool Favored for Saturday's $15,000+ Woodlands Stakes at SHRP
(Houston, Texas - Thursday, August 5, 2010) - Sam Houston
Race Park will host the $15,000+ Woodland Stakes on Saturday, August
7. Favored horse Down N Cool (5-2) will be looking to notch his
first win of the 2010 American Quarter Horse Meet and second overall
at The Park. The three-year-old brown gelding, trained by John S.
Buchanan, broke his maiden at The Park on Saturday, June 5. Down
N Cool is owned by Iris M. Buchanan, and taking the reins will be
jockey Jerry Lee Yoakum.
The eight-horse field for the Woodland Stakes also features Prince
of Winning, Thereaintnobugsonme, Pronto Tonto, Mr See Lee, My Nickelodeon,
Royal Tiny Chaos and Sorreano.
In addition to live racing events, The Park will continue to hold
the popular Party on the Patio Steak Night featuring outdoor patio
seating on the Apron area, hot steak off the outdoor grill, twice-baked
potato and $2 draft beer from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The Verizon Wireless Summer Concert Series continues on the Bud
Light stage, with performances from Roger Creager, Reckless Kelly
and The Cody Johnson Band following live racing events on August
