$418,984 Texas Quarter Horse Association Sale Futurity (RG1) this Weekend at SHRP
(Friday, July 25, 2008) - Sam Houston Race Park will host
the $418.984 TQAH Sale Futurity (RG1) stakes race, along with two
additional stakes races as part of the evening’s 10-race card,
on Saturday, July 26.
The Texas Quarter Horse Association (TQHA) trial races, which
took place on July 11 at The Park, revealed Show Me Your Toole as
the fastest qualifier with a final time of :18.037. The race is
open to two-year-olds running a distance of 350 yards. The field
of 10 competitors for the final features Show Me Your Toole as the
5-2 favorite, with Jodys Money Pop (4-1) as the second-favored horse
in the race.
The 2007 TQHA Sale Futurity was won by Dirt Track Date in a final
time of :17.765. The 2007 race was extremely close and took the
placing judges five minutes to examine all the angles of the finish,
as Dirt Track Date crossed the wire with Eyesa Jumpn and Red White
and Gol close behind. Winning trainer L. R. “Tooter”
Jordan was overjoyed when the race became official, as the final
payday of $165,834 was one of the richest purses in the nine-year
history of the race.
