La Jolla Suspect Tops Qualifiers
for the $59,458 TQHA Sires' Cup Derby at SHRP (Thursday, July 9, 2009) - The trials for the $59,458 TQHA Sires' Cup Derby were held on Thursday, July 9. Owner/breeder Jorge Haddad's La Jolla Suspect posted a hard fought three-quarters of a length victory in her trial to become the fastest qualifier for the 400-yard race for three-year-olds and up in 20.143. The three-year-old sorrel daughter of Ausual Suspect out of the Streakin La Jolla mare La Jolla Rocket was ridden to victory by David Alvarez. Below is the full list of qualifiers for the final, which will be held on Saturday, July 25:
