TQHA Sires' Cup Futurity & Derby This Weekend at SHRP
(Houston, Texas - June 4, 2010) - Sam Houston Race Park
will kick off the first weekend in June with the $113,502 TQHA Sires’
Cup Futurity (RG2) and $54,727 TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby (RG3)
this Saturday, June 5. Trials for both stakes races were run at
The Park on May 21st and 22nd. Saturday night’s live racing
card will feature nine races, with the Derby as the 6th race on
the night’s card and the Futurity as the 8th race.
Executive Precision (8-5), the fastest qualifier for the TQHA
Sires’ Cup Futurity, is the morning line odds favorite. The
350-yard race features the top two-year-old sprinters. Executive
Precision is trained by Eusevio Huitron and will be guided by jockey
Enrique Moreno Gonzalez. The two-year-old grey colt has a stellar
record of three first-place finishes out of his five starts.
The remainder of the 10-horse field includes: Jess A Classy Lass,
Stones Puede, Trampstamp, RC Shake Up My Day, The Gray Menace, Stylize,
Giorgino, Gray Darlin Dash and Cant Shake My Fame.
The TQHA Sires’ Cup Derby will showcase the top three-year-olds
racing a distance of 400 yards. The favorite and fastest qualifier,
Ocean Fun (7-2), will be led by the same trainer-jockey team as
Executive Precision. Huitron and Gonzalez look to bring the three-year-old
brown gelding back to the winner’s circle for his second consecutive
win during the 2010 Quarter Horse meet.
The remainder of the 10-horse field features Dashingfordestiny,
Without Prejudice, Nancys Ocean, Zoomin On By, Kite Flyer, The Gucci
Diamond, Speeding, Ms Riptide and All Star Talent.
In addition to live Quarter Horse racing events, The Park will
host a simulcast of the 142nd Running of the $1 Million Belmont
Stakes (Gr. I), along with Party on the Patio Hot Wing Night, featuring
admission and 10 hot wings for just $10, along with $2 draft beer
available from 4:00-8:00 p.m. The Verizon Wireless summer concert
