Big Bad N Brown Vying for His Second Straight Stakes Win in the $15,000+ San Marcos Stakes at SHRP
(Thursday, June 4, 2009) - Sam Houston Race Park will be
home to a showdown between rivals Big Bad N Brown (3-1), Jess Ina
Bluedress (9-2), and Blue Ribbon Dash (5-1) in the $15,000 + San
Marcos Stakes on Saturday, June 6, 2009. The last match-up between
these three Quarter Horses featured Big Bad N Brown upsetting the
field to win the Universal City Stakes by a head on May 9. However,
the San Marcos, for three-year-olds and up going 870 yards, includes
a new contender with a solid record. Cant Pass Me, the morning line
favorite at 2-1, has won four consecutive races under jockey J.R.
Ramirez.
Cant Pass Me, trained by Roberto G. Madrigal, recorded his best
time at Manor Downs in Austin, Texas, clearing 870 yards in a time
of: 45.622.
“He’s become a pro at this distance in just a short
time,” commented Madrigal. “But the true test will be
on Saturday when we are able to see how he matches up with these
other 870-yard specialists.”
The remaining horses in the eight-horse field include JBS Money
Maker, Sheza Bright Wood, Heza Marquette Maker and All The Kings
Horses.
Saturday’s live racing event will be followed by the inaugural
“Battle of Sam” 2009 Battle of the Bands competition
from the Verizon Wireless Concert Series on the Bud Light Stage
in the Value Day Fun Zone. Tickets start at only $5.
