Jakes Charming Jody Tops $43,400 Bank of America Texas Maiden Challenge Qualifiers at Sam Houston Race Park
(Houston, Texas - Friday, April 22, 2011) - Jakes Charming Jody returned to the winner’s circle on Friday, April 22 and emerged as the fastest qualifier for the $43,400 Bank of American Texas Maiden Challenge. The 3-year-old daughter of Jody O Toole won her trial in :17.735 for owner/ breeder Gary Kurz and is amassing an impressive streak of wins at Sam Houston this meet. The speedy filly was the fastest qualifier and winner of the $80,000 Sam Houston Maiden Classic on March 26.
"She is a very fast filly," acknowledged Kurz. "Jorge has done a wonderful job with her."
The Hot List, trained by Yasmine Medina-Fierro was the second fastest qualifier, clocking at :17.790.This was the second straight win this meet for the three-year-old Streakin La Jolla colt, who won his trial under rider Luis Vivanco.
Four trials were run on Friday night and it was a strong showing for the Haddad barn. In addition to Jakes Charming Jody, Perfection and Ms Tnt, two fillies owned by the 43-year-old conditioner, advanced to the final on Saturday, May 7.
