Rc Hadtobemovin Sizzles in the $15,000 Silestone Stakes at SHRP
(Houston, Texas - Saturday, March 12, 2011) - The first stakes of the 2011 Sam Houston Race Park American Quarter Horse meet featured a well-matched group of eight accredited Texas-bred three-year-old fillies. Rc Hadtobemovin powered to the wire of the $15,000 Silestone Stakes under rider Santos Carrizales.
Bred in Texas by R C Running Horses the bay daughter of Hadtobenuts entered tonight’s stakes off a maiden win at Evangeline Downs. Owned by Juan Gabriel Borrego of Houston and trained by Joseph Vacca, Rc Hadtobemovin dueled with morning-line favorite Unknown Source before surging to the wire by a neck. The final time of the 350-yard feature was :17.101.
“This is the first time I rode her, but a friend of mine works her and told me how good this filly is,” said Carrizales. “She likes the competition and ran really well tonight.”
The win at Evangeline was the first in seven starts, but Vacca knew that his filly had talent.
“We have been patient with her,” said Vacca. “After she broke her maiden, we felt that we could give her a shot in this stakes. We plan to run her in some derbies in the future.”
Borrego, originally from Mexico, has been an owner for two years. Currently Rc Hadtobemovin is the only horse he owns.
Unknown Source ran second under Julian Cantu for trainer Jonathan Castaneda. She made three starts at Sam Houston last year and represented Texas in the John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship last November at Fair Grounds. Pyc Is a Dream was third followed by Neartica, Blu Eyed Chick, Howdy O Toole, Amanda Hope and Executive Illusion.
Rc Hadtobemovin returned $6.60 to her supporters and earned $9,000 for the victory.
