Aces Honor enters $100,000 Bob Bork Texas Turf Mile off maiden win, meets filly Bohemian
(Houston, Texas - Thursday, January 22, 2026) - Six years after his first foray into Texas racing, Ethan West will saddle Aces Honor in the 6th running of the Bob Bork Texas Turf Mile at Sam Houston Race Park. The son of Code of Honor broke his maiden when last seen in mid-December at Fair Grounds, contesting a strong pace in the one mile event before holding sway late.
“We have always thought highly of him and are excited to step up in class,” West said. “He moved forward last time out and gives us every indication he’s holding his form well.”
Aces Honor figures to be close to the early pace under Lane Luzzi. He showed increased early speed in the maiden victory and dug in determinedly when confronted. He races in the colors of Pocket Aces Racing LLC.
Bohemian was supplemented to the race and will tackle males after winning a N2L optional claimer at Fair Grounds on January 3. Trainer Joe Sharp believes that she is just coming into her own and felt very strongly about her effort in the aforementioned victory.
“She closed like there was a strong pace in the race but there was not,” he said. “She has really found her niche this winter and we liked the timing of this race.”
Sharp trained two of Bohemian’s siblings and has seen the most potential in the daughter of Essential Quality who has now won two straight. She races for Carl Moore Management and will have Ben Curtis in the irons on Saturday afternoon.
Cruisin Chuck is still a maiden after two starts but has run winning races in both prior outings. He was a competitive third behind Aces Honor in December at Fair Grounds and now draws the rail in search of his first victory. He was a good second in his debut behind a more seasoned runner and now draws the rail with veteran Deshawn Parker in the irons. He races for Mark Norman and Norman Stables.
Remember Mamba and Casa Cielo were cross-entered in an allowance race at Fair Grounds and are expected to scratch. |
