Five of the Top Quarter Horses in USA to Face Off Friday Night at Retama Park
(Selma, Texas - July 26, 2011) - As business continues to grow at Retama Park during the 2011 live American Quarter Horse Meeting, Friday night's $35,000 Ancira Ford Classic has drawn a stellar field of seven top-notch runners. Five of the entrants have earned a combined $1,584,000.
The leading money winner in the field is First Klas Fred. Trained by veteran conditioner Heath Taylor, First Klas Fred has banked a remarkable $516,000. The 2009 Rainbow Futurity winner is making his first start of the 2011 campaign.
Also entered are Diamond for Jess, Charal Kid, Acorn and Endless Ocean in what is shaping up as most significant race of the meet for older horses in 2011.
Friday night is Fifty Cent Friday at Retama Park. The track’s signature promotion has produced overflowing crowds during the first month of live racing.

Saturday night’s card wraps up a blockbuster weekend with two-year-olds seeking the brass ring in the super rich $400,000 TQHA Sales Futurity.
The upcoming weekend also marks Retama Park going a three nights a week live racing schedule, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night until closing night October 15. A mixed meet schedule of Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds begins Friday night. |
