No Tools Required Wins Rheudasil Handicap With Flying Finish
(Saturday, October 12, 2002) - No Tools Required, a 3-year-old
filly facing older horses for the first time, won her third consecutive
stakes race this year with a powerful finishing kick in Saturday
night's Gr. 3 Rheudasil Handicap at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie,
Texas. The Texas-bred daughter of Jody O Toole won the 350-yard
contest in 17.55 seconds, a neck ahead of dead-heat second place
finishers In The First Place and Mena Magic.
Eddie Cox Jr. rode the winner for owner Julie Pilgrim and trainer
Ronald Wayne Gilmer.
No Tools Required raised her career earnings to $117,209 with the
$12,000 winner's share of the purse. The filly has won nine of 13
starts, including two stakes at Sam Houston this summer.
Austiana, Eye This Chic, Style With Substance, Feefifowho, Easy
Te Form, The Cheetah and Mystical Rainbow completed the order of
finish.
Quarterloom Sets New Track Record for 350 Yards
Quarterloom, a 4-year-old gelding by Ronas Ryon, set a new track
record of 17.34 for 350 yards in Saturday's eighth race, eclipsing
the previous mark of 17.42 set by Dashing Bye in 2000. Shifting
crosswinds estimated at 15 miles per hour aided Quarterloom's winning
effort in the $10,000 allowance event, in which runner-up Big Red
Tequila also eclipsed the previous track record with a final time
of 17.41.
