Longhorn Futurity & Derby Highlight Saturday's Action at Manor Downs

Manor, Texas (March 18, 2006) - Action at Manor Downs on Saturday included the finals prestigious Longhorn Futurity (G2) and Longhorn Derby (G2), as well as a visit to the track by Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn. Strayhorn made the trophy presentation to the connections of the Futurity winner.

Before a crowd of 1,104, Ariel Campos’ Okey Dokey Fantasy pulled off a narrow longshot victory in the $265,680 Longhorn Futurity (G2) at odds of 25-to-1. Under Alfonso Lujan, the son of Okey Dokey Dale just nipped the fastest qualifier and 2-to-1 favorite Zoomin For Bux by a nose, covering 300 yards in :15.518. He was the fourth fastest qualifier for the race.

Sixes Split Pea checked in third, followed past the wire by Double Kandu, Imherefortheparty, Truley A Natural, Bac Traffic, Dashin Fling, Gol To Go, and Prospect Of More.

Trained by Carlos Saldivar, Okey Dokey Fantasy took home the $118,699 winner’s prize of the stakes-record purse.

Bred by Michael Pohl of Canton, Texas, Okey Dokey Fantasy is one of two starters foaled by his dam, the winning Lazbuddie mare Fontanas Fantasy, who is a half sister to Grade 3-winner Royal Medallion.

Jesstified Beats Fellow Longshot Capitan Nuevo to the Wire in Longhorn Derby

Everardo Muzquiz’s Jesstified scored his first stakes victory in style on Saturday as the three-year-old son of Mr Jess Perry crossed the wire a half-length in front of fellow longshot Capitan Nuevo to annex the $114,180 Longhorn Derby (G2) at odds of 11-to-1. Trained by Rodolfo Sanchez and ridden by Martin Rubalcava, Jesstified was timed in :17.900 for the 350 yards to capture his fourth win in nine starts.

Sis B Gol, the fastest qualifier, checked in third, followed under the wire by Dolce La Jolla, 19-to-10 favorite Copacorona Special, Speed On Prince, Promising Victory, Boknaai, MJP Loop, and Classified Bull.

Bred by Charlie and Dixie Patterson of Wimberley, Texas, Jesstified earned $59,724 for his victory. He is a full brother to stakes winner and 2006 Los Alamitos Winter Championship (G1) finalist Jesse James Jr.
