Jess Cruzin Victorious in the $37,650 Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Claiming Derby Sunday Night

How perfect was that when the one horse that was claimed from the qualifying time trials a couple of weeks ago actually won the Derby final? Jess Cruzin qualified for the final by trainer Dee Keener for owner Jeff Adams, but another trainer, Oscar Nunez, had his eye on the gelded son of Hes Relentless out of the Feature Mr Jess mare, Jess Streakin, and claimed him for owner Samuel Gaytan. It worked out just right as Jess Cruzin crossed the finish line three-quarters of a length in front of his opponents to win the $37,650 Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Claiming Derby for his new connections tonight.

Froylen Ramirez was aboard for the win, chosen by winning trainer Oscar Nunez. Jess Cruzin paid $7.60. Second place went to Invisible Paint Brush, and Banking On Kool was up for show. Favored Cat Dash Wired completed the Superfecta, followed by Lil Twist of Pyc, Shes a Fast Grip, Bg Unleash the Beast, Sister Secondpainted, Katnip Krazy and Special Cha Ching was last.
