Trainer Trey Wood and Jockey Ricky Ramirez Sweep All Three Texas Classic Races Saturday at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, November 14, 2015) - The final day of the 2015 Fall Meeting of Champions season at Lone Star Park was an especially memorable one for the season's leading trainer and jockey. Trey Wood and Ricky Ramirez were presented their awards after the second race on the card Saturday. Who would have thought it could get better than that for the pair? It did! They teamed up to sweep all three Texas Classic races, the Juvenile Stakes, Derby and Futurity. A feat no other team has accomplished before them.

$1,151,780 Texas Classic Futurity, Grade 1

It was back-to-back wins in the Texas Classic Futurity for leading owner Terry D. Stennett when Tres Friends crossed the finish line three-quarters of a length in front of First Fancy Racy. It was another three-quarters of a length back to Prissy Sin Tacha in third. Favorite Rc Jet One finished sixth out of the field of 10. Final time for the 400 yard Grade 1 was :19.616. The track was listed as fast.

The victory was the third Texas Classic Futurity win for both Wood and Ramirez. They teamed up to win with Bodacious Dash in 2010 and again in 2014 with Torts On Fire.

The sorrel gelding by Tres Seis has won a total of three races from five starts, and with the $498,067 bump, increased his earnings to $920,897.

$415,690 Texas Classic Derby, Grade 1

Johnny Trotter's Bodacious Eagle, the gelded son of One Famous Eagle he calls his buddy, made him the proudest of owners tonight, winning the Grade 1 $415,685 Texas Classic Derby.

Bodacious Eagle was first out of the gate and first to the finish, clocking the 440 yards in :21.298 seconds. Dutcher finished second by a half a length over Rc Me Leaving You in third. Last year's Texas Classic Futurity winner, Torts On Fire, finished fourth. Favorite Apolitical Blood just did not have it tonight and finished sixth.

This was the seventh win from 15 starts for Bodacious Eagle, boosting his bankroll to $624,290.

$93,387 Texas Classic Juvenile Stakes

In the Texas Classic Juvenile Stakes, Race 7 of 10 on the closing night card, it was Appolitical Streak first at the wire for Terry D. Stennett, who with the victory clinched the 2015 leading owner title.

Breaking from the inside post, the gelding by Appolitical Jess grabbed the lead and went to the wire in front, finishing a half-length better than Volcom Bay. It was another half-length back to Patriot Pearl in third. Final time for the 400 yards was :19.676 over a fast racetrack.
