Six Moons Streakin Up in Time in
JEH Stallion Station Handicap at LSP
(Friday, November 7, 2008) - Six Moons Streakin, owned by
Jaime Mendoza and trained by Robert Touchet, won the Seventh Running
of the $20,000 JEH Stallion Station Handicap, for three-year-olds
and upward, over a fast track at Lone Star Park on Friday night.
With Fidencio Hernandez in the saddle, Six Moons Streakin quickly
found himself a length behind post-time favorite Jess Flashy out
of the gate, but once the sorrel son of Streakin La Jolla hit top
speed he wore that rival down to trip the timer in 27.060 for the
550-yard distance and a speed index of 102. Jess Flashy finished
a half-length back in second and it was another two lengths back
to Easy Blue Phats in third.
“He’s been training well for a while and the time
off seemed to do him some good,” said winning trainer Robert
Touchet. “He’s not the best gate horse, but once he
gets it going he really can run.”
With the win, Six Moons Streakin improved his record to five wins
from 21 starts, and boosted his career earnings to $63,001.
Six Moons Streakin paid $7.60, $4.60, $2.80, runner-up Jess Flashy
returned $3.60, $3.00, and Easy Blue Phats paid $4.20 for show.
Patriot Arrival, Cash At the Line, Running Wood, Work Work Work
and Swiss Yodeler completed the order of finish. Work Work Work
was disqualified from fourth and placed seventh.
