(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, November 5, 2010) - Wade Leggett’s The Cock of the Walk, trained by Luis Villafranco, won the 5th Running of the $62,500 Lone Star Park Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, for eligible two-year-old Paints and Appaloosas, over a fast track on Friday night at Lone Star Park

Ridden by regular rider Kenny Muntz, the sorrel son of Royal Quick Flash, out of the Corona Cartel mare Corona Lace, enjoyed a clean trip, after breaking from outermost post 10, in recording a half-length victory over Valdarama.  It was another half-length back to Northernette in third.  The final time for the 350 yard distance was 17.400, earning a Speed Index of 103.

“When I worked this horse for the first time earlier in the year, ‘I said man, this is one of the fastest horses I’ve been on in awhile,’” explained winning rider Kenny Muntz. “When he ran second in the trials I knew he had the potential to win the final.”

With the victory, The Cock of the Walk earned his first career win from four starts, and the $25,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his lifetime earnings to $33,784.

The Cock of the Walk paid $24.20, $8.80, $5.00, Valdarama returned $4.20, $3.00, and Northernette paid $3.80 for show.  Roddy Mac Sorley, Country Strummer, Flashing Memories, Special Sign, Prize Jive, Country Marauder, and Rockin to First completed the order of finish.
