Uptown Sandy Girl Wins Filly Division of $20,000 Texas Lone Star Stakes for Arabians Friday at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, October 27, 2017) - Jon R. Henningsgard's Uptown Sandy Girl led the field gate-to-wire in the filly division of the $20,000 Texas Lone Star Juvenile Stakes on Friday night.
Trained by Ken Danyluk and ridden by Francisco Calderon, the three-year-old grey filly completed the six furlongs in 1:19.32 over a fast track. The Texas daughter of Burning Sand improved her record to three wins from seven starts, and the $11,700 winner's share of the purse boosted her lifetime earnings to $35,300.
RB Gaim Ranger finished a length and three-quarters back in second, while favorite RB Kinkie Boots dropped back to finish a very distant third by 21 lengths. RB Wicked Rich, Rich Sin, and RB Sand Pearl completed the order of finish.
Uptown Sandy Girl paid $6.20 to win, $4.00 to place and $2.20 to show. RB Gaim Ranger paid $3.40 and $2.10. RB Kinkie Boots paid $2.10 for show.

RB Hot Date, the 2-to-5 favorite, chased the pace on the outside, finding a comfortable spot just behind the leader going into the turn, staying in the same spot through the stretch run, and getting up in the final strides to win the $20,000 colt & gelding division of the $20,000 Texas Lone Star Juvenile Stakes for Arabians.
Owned by Rosebrook Farms, LLC and trained by Jerenesto Torrez, the three-year-old chestnut colt, bred in Florida and also by Burning Sand, appeared strong throughout. It was a game finish under a confident ride by jockey Adrian B. Ramos for the ha;f-length length victory.
RB Hot Date covered the six-furlong distance in 1:21.80. It was his fourth win in eight career starts. With the $11,100 winner's share of the purse, he increased his lifetime earnings to $35,140.
Big Cork set the pace, holding the lead until relinquishing to the winner in the end, settling for second, 2 1/2 lengths in front of third-place finisher Uptown Flying Flynn. Prince William AA, Codys Surprise, Captain Bush, WMA Red Pepper, and Highh Shine completed the order of finish. |
