Stolis Winner Tries Again at Lone Star Park to Become All-Time Money Earner in B.F. Phillips on Saturday

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Wednesday, October 27, 2010) - Jerry Windham’s Stolis Winner can make history at Lone Star Park this Saturday night by becoming the richest American Quarter Horse ever with a win in the 12th Running of the $25,000 B.F. Phillips, Jr. Handicap for accredited Texas-Breds, 3-years-old and up.

Stolis Winner, who has $2,114,731 in lifetime earnings, enters the race only $11,578 behind the all-time mark of $2,126,309 held by Refrigerator and needs to earn the winner’s share of $13,750 to break the record.  On Oct. 2 at Lone Star Park, the 4-year-old, bay gelded son of Stoli came up a head short of breaking the record when he was runner up to Spit Curl Diva in the race named for the current all-time leader, the $100,000 Refrigerator Handicap.

Trained by Heath Taylor, Stolis Winner has won 12 of 20 career starts and has been made the 8-5 favorite in the morning line by Lone Star Park odds maker Rick Lee.  Regular rider and all-time money earning jockey G. R. Carter Jr. has the mount.

The top challenger should be Five Star Partners’ Streakin Illusively, who has been made the 9-5 second choice in the morning line.  Coming into the race with a four-race winning streak, including a victory in the $25,000 Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Handicap at Lone Star Park on Opening Night of the meet on Sept. 17, the 6-year-old, sorrel Streakin La Jolla gelding will be looking for his 11th win in his 28th career start.  Trained by Judd Kearl, Streakin Illusively will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo.

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of: Miss Kips Streakin (Jose Alvarez, 15-1); Charal Kid (Santos Carrizales, 8-1); Ocean Fun (Luis Ramirez, 12-1); King Brimmerton (Russel Hadley, 5-1); Brightest Okey (Donaciano Arriaga, 30-1); Stolis Winner (G. R. Carter, Jr., 8-5); Bar Winning Jet (Cody Wainscott, 20-1); and Streakin Illusively (Rodrigo Vallejo, 9-5).

The B.F. Phillips, Jr. Handicap is Race 7 on the 10-race program with a scheduled post time of 8:59 p.m.
