Valiant Tiberias Surprises in the 24th Running of the Grade 1 Refrigerator Stakes Sunday at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Sunday, October 25, 2020) - Eysa Jess Jumpn bumped with a rival out of the gate, and there was no catching up with the top three finishers. Jordan Eagle led early, with favorite Dexxter and eventual winner Valiant Tiberias flanking him on either side. Dexxter managed to get the lead and looked like a winner, but Valiant Tiberias wasn't having any of it and got to the wire first by a head. Final time for the 440-yard $200,000 Refrigerator Stakes (G1) was :21.433 seconds on a fast track.

Owned in partnership of Sergio Holguin, Clifton Nielson and Felix Rodriguez, Valiant Tiberias was already a multiple graded stakes winner, but this was his first Grade 1 victory. With tonight's share of the purse, the four-year-old gelding by Valiant Hero boosted his earnings to $572,173. This was his first win this year from six starts.

Valiant Tiberias is trained by leading trainer Alonso Neri and was ridden to victory by Victor Manuel Urieta, Jr.

The complete order of finish was Valiant Tiberias, followed by Dexxter, Jordan Eagle, Midday News, Diamond and a Half, Stone Cold Leader, Viva Le Don, Hot Dam Bam a Lam, Eysa Jess Jumpn, Zoomin On Bye, New News and Kleptomaniac.
