| Dm Streakn Thru Fire Fastest Qualifier for Texas Classic Futurity
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, October 23, 2010) - Telling No Lies Partnership’s Dm Streakn Thru Fire, trained by Michael Joiner, won the 12th of 13 trials in 19.432 seconds for 400 yards over a muddy track to become the fastest qualifier among 122 competitors in the Texas Classic Futurity Trials at Lone Star Park on Saturday night. The Grade 1, $1,036,613 Texas Classic Futurity, for 2-year-olds, will be run on Saturday, Nov. 13, closing night of Lone Star Park’s 2010 Fall Meeting of Champions for American Quarter Horses. With jockey G. R. Carter up, Dm Streakn Thru Fire, a sorrel Walk Thru Fire gelding, jumped out to an early lead then ran away from the field with a powerful effort to win by 2 ¼-lengths over runner up Might Be Southern, who just missed qualifying in the top 10 with the 11th fastest time (19.773 seconds). In his first race at Lone Star Park, Dm Streakn Thru Fire earned a Speed Index of 103 and improved his career record to three wins from six starts. Sammy C. & Johnny C. Martinez & Bobby D. Cox’s American Runaway, trained by Paul Jones and ridden by Cody Jensen, won the 11th of 13 trials in 19.491 seconds and was the second fastest qualifier on Saturday night. The runner up in that 11th race, S. C. & J. C. Martinez & B. D. Cox’s Llano Teller, trained by Heath Reed and ridden by G. R. Carter, Jr., was clocked with the third best time of 19.540 seconds for the 400-yard dash. With two, jockey G. R. Carter, Jr. was the only rider with multiple qualifiers. No owners or trainers had more than one runner in the top 10.
