Koolnfamous Quickest of All Qualifiers to the Grade 1, $1 Million Texas Classic Futurity at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, October 22, 2016) - The field is set for the Grade 1, $1 million Texas Classic Futurity, to be held on Saturday, November 12 at Lone Star Park.
Jockey Esgar Ramirez guided Koolnfamous to the wire in race 5, posting the fastest qualifying time of the night at 400 yards in :19.813 seconds. The track was listed as fast. A Speed Index of 91 was awarded for the effort. Owned by Gene White, Wayne Metcalfe & Jerry Cate and trained by Toby Keeton, the gelded son of One Famous Eagle will return for a shot at the $1 million in three weeks.
Of the 12 trial races run tonight, all but races 2, 4, 8 & 10 produced qualifiers for the final.
It was also a record night for trainer Trey Wood. He eclipsed the record for most wins on a single race card at Lone Star Park tonight with six, surpassing the previous record of five wins set on November 28, 1999 by the late Steve Van Bebber. And jockey Ricky Ramirez rode five winners, which ties the record with two other jockeys, Roy Baldillez rode five winners on November 29, 2002 and Alvin Brossette rode five winners on October 18, 2003.
