Texas Silk Fastest Qualifier to Advance to Grade 1 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, October 18, 2014) - Charles R. Leggett's Texas Silk did not disappoint tonight winning his 440 yard trial with the quickest time of 19.847 seconds on a fast track, solidifying his spot in the Grade 1 $108,862 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity to be run here on November 8, 2014.
Ridden by Berkley R. Packer, Texas Silk, a gelding by Texas Six out of Judys Silk, by Judys Lineage, was one of five that qualified from the stable of trainer Dee Keener.
Berkley Packer was also aboard the second fastest qualifier Cant Be Caught.
Texas Silk is two-thirds of the way to claiming the 2014 Speedhorse Triple Crown, which is made up by the Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Remington Park, the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Fair Meadows and The Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity here at Lone Star Park. He has won the first two legs, and after his performance tonight, it looks like he has a more than fair shot at this years’ Crown!
