124 Juveniles Vying for One of Only 10 Coveted Spots to the Grade 1, $1 Million Texas Classic Futurity Saturday at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, October 17, 2019) - Thirteen races are scheduled Saturday, October 19, each a trial race for two-year-olds putting forth their best possible efforts to run the fastest 400 yards they ever have, because the 10 fastest of the night will earn the right to start in the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity (G1) on November 9. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. First race post time 6:05 p.m.

The Texas Classic Futurity is the richest race in the state and the premier race for two-year-olds at the meeting. These trials make for some of the best racing of the season. With 124 Quarter Horses competing for one of 10 possible spots, you can be sure they will be putting forth their best efforts. At least three trial race winners Saturday won't make it to the final, possibly more. It's all about the finish time. Wagering on the trials can be lucrative, as well, with many making their first or second start of their careers and some having already won big money futurities.

Cruz E. Nava's Trump My Record drew into the first race. This amazing colt by Apollitical Blood out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Breck N Records has won six of eight races, earning $385,291, including the Harrah's Futurity (G3) at Louisiana Downs and the Sam Houston Futurity (G2). He qualified for the TQHA Futurity (G2) at Retama, but stumbled and got bumped finishing fifth. He is fresh off of a second place finish to Chilitos in the Dash for Cash Futurity (G2) here. Jose Luis "Joe" Sanchez, III trains, and his younger brother, Eddie Sanchez, the only jockey to ride Trump My Record, will be aboard.

Chilitos, the winner of the Dash for Cash Futurity (G2) mentioned above, has drawn into race five. This colt by Apollitical Jess out of Mary Me Anna, by Game Patriot has three wins and two seconds from eight starts, earning $194,219. He will race for owners Omar and Anna Paredes Saturday in hopes of making it to the final. If he runs as well as his last two races, he will likely make it. Chilitos is trained by Adrian Huitron and Nestor Duran has the mount.

Also in the fifth race who could be right on the heels of Chilitos is Perrys Secret, trained by Josue Ponce and owned by his father, Carlos Ponce. The gelded son of Hez Our Secret out of Sister Jess, by Mr Jess Perry has won $263,843 from three firsts and a second from four starts. He was the winner of the West Texas Futurity (G2) at Sunland Park in May and placed in the TQHA Futurity (G2) at Retama Park in July. This will be his first start since. Jesse Levario will take over the assignment from his regular rider, Manuel Gutierrez.

Another of note is E. Raedele Phipps' Expedyte in race 12. A son of Freighttrain B and Shazumba, by Shazoom, is a perfect four-for-four. His wins include the Sam Houston Juvenile Stakes and the Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs. Last year's leading trainer and jockey, Josue Ponce and Jesse Levario, are his connections.

With 124 hopefuls and only 10 spots in the final, it's sure to be a great night of racing! Again the final is the $1 million (estimated) Texas Classic Futurity (G1). It will be on the final night of the season, Saturday, November 9.
