Trials Saturday for Grade 1 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity on November 8 at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, October 17, 2014) - Three trial races at 400 yards have attracted 30 two-year-old paint & appaloosa youngsters Saturday, October 18 at Lone Star Park. The trials, races four through six on the 10 race card, are held to fill the ten spots available in the Grade 1 $50,000 added Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity on November 8. The ten with the fastest times from these trials will advance to the futurity final. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First race 6:35 p.m. (CDT).

In trial Race Four, Ralph Young's Cowboy Mafia, trained by Randy Hill, owns a race record of 4-2-2-0 and earnings of $11,034. The colt by Judys Lineage out of Just Streakin, by Streakin Sixes, won the Harvest Cup Futurity at Les Bois Park two races back in June and placed in the BHS Futurity at Miles City last May. He placed in his most recent attempt in an allowance at Wyoming Downs in July. Cowboy Mafia has been made the 7-5 morning line favorite. Post time for the fourth race is 7:53 p.m.

Trial Race Five has a grade 1 winner in Cant Be Caught. Trained by Dee Keener for owner John C. Diediker, the gelding by With Intent out of Unique Form, by Rare Form, won the Grade 1 Cricket Bars ApHc Futurity last month at Will Rogers Downs. In July he was fourth by less than a length behind winner Texas Silk in the Grade 1 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Fair Meadows. His record reads 7-5-0-0 with earnings of $43,860. Post time for the fifth is 8:19 p.m.

The Sixth and final trial of the night has another Dee Keener trainee in Grade 1 winner Texas Silk. Owned by Charles R. Leggett, the gelding by Texas Six out of Judys Silk, by Judys Lineage, has won three Grade 1 races this year, the PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity at Remington Park in April, the Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity, also at Remington, in May, and the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Fair Meadows in July. He has won an impressive $189,917 from five wins and one second from eight starts to date in his young career. Post time for race six is 8:45 p.m.
