Three Trials Set Friday to Decide Final Field to G1 Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, October 13, 2016) - The 11th running of the Grade 1, Speedhorse Lone Star Paint & Appaloosa Futurity will be contested on Saturday, October 29, 2016. The race card for Friday, October 14 has a three trial races made up of 25 two-year-old paint & appaloosa horses all vying to be one of 10 fastest which will advance to the final.

Races 3 through 5 on the nine-race Friday card are the designated trial races. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First race post time is 6:35 p.m. The first trial (race 3) begins at 7:27 p.m. All times CDT.

The third race has several closely matched competitors. Mickey Johnson & Randy Hills' Ivoriona has been made the 2-1 morning line favorite. She has posted some of the highest speed figures of the field. The grade 1-winning two-year-old paint daughter of Ivory James also boasts the highest earnings, bankrolling $89,318 from her three wins of five starts. Most notable was her win in the Grade 1 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity last June at Remington Park. Incidentally, the race ended in a dead-heat for first, so she shares the win with Phq Goodbye Earl, who drew into race 4. Ivoriona is trained by co-owner Randy Hills. She will be ridden by Jorge Torres.

Favorite in race 5 at 9-5 is Nolan D. Peevehouse's Paint Me Turnpike. Trained by Matt Whitekiller, the two-year-old paint filly by Pyc Paint Your Wagon has won three of five starts, including the Grade 1 Oklahoma Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Remington Park last March. She finished fourth after a troubled start in the Grade 1 Speedhorse Graham Paint & Appaloosa Futurity last June at Remington Park. Her earnings total $79,149. Post time for race 4 is 7:53 p.m.

In race 6, the final trial of the night, Pat Shelton's Tellerimaprettygal is the 2-1 morning line favorite. A daughter of Tellers Dash has won two of three starts most recently the Cricket Bar Futurity at Will Rogers Downs last month. She is trained by Ray Enlow and will be ridden by Mario Chavez. Post time for race 5 is 8:19 p.m.
