(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, October 12, 2013) - What a night for Arabian Racing at Lone Star Park. It was a training double for Scott Powell and a riding double for jockey Gregorio Rivera. The pair had the winners in each division of the Grade 3, Arabian Stallion Stakes, and they were impressive. Mark K. Powell's SO BIG IS BETTER was better than the rest, scoring his 24th lifetime victory in the one mile $20,000 colt & gelding division tonight at Lone Star Park.

With jockey Gregorio Rivera in the irons, the nine-year-old horse by BURNING SAND was well placed just off the pace, taking the lead part-way through the far turn and held on down the stretch to finish two and three-quarter lengths in front of DC ROYALE TIGRE in second. It was another four and a half lengths back to third place finisher LUCKY SAND. Final time for the one mile over a muddy track was 1:48.69

With the winner's share of the purse, SO BIG IS BETTER increased his career earnings to $263,465.

Mutuel payoffs were as follows: SO BIG IS BETTER paid $3.40, $2.10 and $2.10, DC ROYALE TIGRE paid $3.00 and $2.40 and half the entry with the winner, LUCKY SAND paid $3.40, $2.10 and $2.10 for show. BY GOLLY ITS HOT, T M BURNING BRIDGES, CHOLLY ROGER SWA and VAZS BURNING DESTINY completed the order of finish.

Ms Dixie A Stunner in Filly & Mare Division

Quarter Moon Ranch's MS DIXIE blew away the field in the filly & mare division of the Grade 3, Arabian Stallion Stakes.

With the same jockey-trainer connections as SO BIG IS BETTER, the five-year-old mare, also by BURNING SAND, took the lead before the half and never looked back, drawing off to win by nine and three-quarter lengths. Final time for the one mile contest was 1:48.83 over a muddy track.

MS DIXIE returned $5.80, $4.20 and $3.00 for her effort. Second went to DC WILLEYS SONG and returned $3.20 and $4.60. SAND ON FIRE paid $2.60 for the show. CHERE BEBE, TTT DARK DIAMOND, TM MADDAMEE, TTT TINY TINA, MUFV IT ON OVER, TIKIS SHADOW and LIL RICH GIRL completed the order of finish.

MS DIXIE increased her career earnings to $119,104. This was her 10th win from 27 lifetime starts.
