Paint Me a Sinner Posts a Half-Length Victory Over Favored Mpshinning in Grade 2 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, October 6, 2018) - It was a perfect three-for-three for trainer Rolando Almanza tonight. He became the first trainer in history to saddle the winner in each of the Dash For Cash Stakes, scoring in the $405,585 Futurity (G2) with Paint Me a Sinner, the $163,400 Derby (G3) with Eos a Political Winand, and the $45,065 Juvenile Stakes with Zooming Patriot.

Claudia Avila's bay filly Paint Me a Sinner ($27.00), by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, was perfect out of the gate in the $405,585 Dash For Cash Futurity (G2) and led the entire race. Some Tempting Dash was close in second but couldn't keep up, ultimately finishing fourth. Favorite Mpshinning didn't break like he did in the trials but got up for second on the inside. Third place went to Mr Corona Crystal. The remaining order was Parti Wagon, One Famous Stone, Fm Im a Zatanaz Too, Acoronas Toast and Im Sporting Rock. Washita Jack was scratched from the race.

"We knew she'd break out front but weren't sure she could hold them off," said winning trainer Rolando Almanza. "She's such a little filly, but she's got a big heart. She doesn't know how big she is."

Final time scored by Paint Me a Sinner for the 400-yard futurity was :19.624, which earned a speed index of 99. Jockey Ricardo Garza-Cruz was aboard for the victory. It was her first graded stakes win.

"I had the fastest qualifier last year in the Futurity but couldn't run in the final because the horse couldn't come back. I've been wanting to win this race for a while, and to win all three - the juvenile, derby and futurity - is a dream come true," added Almanza.

In the $163,400 Dash For Cash Derby (G3), Cartel Cupid was fractious in the two hole, causing a delay in the start, then broke in, bumping the winner. It didn't even faze Eos a Political Win ($12.20). He broke perfect from the rail, a half-length better than the field, and held that distance in front to the finish. The bay colt by Apollitical Jess was a half- length in front at the finish, completing the 440 yards in :21.397. It was worth a speed index of 101.

Owned by Elite Oilfield Services and ridden by Jose Amador Alvarez, graded stakes-placed Eos a Political Win earned his first graded stakes victory in the Dash For Cash Derby. His most recent win before trials for this was in the Retama Park Derby in July.

Second place went to Stone Cold Leader. Lions Express finished third, but was disqualified and placed seventh for drifting out. Cartel Cupid was moved up to third followed by T Velocity, Sr Shambles, Krash Course, Ivory Noche, Jcm Dashin Fast, and finally Ebrima completed the order of finish.

It was a double tonight for owner Claudia Avila winning the Dash For Cash Futurity and the $45,065 Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes. Victorious in the juvenile was Zoomin Patriot ($6.00). The black gelding by Jet Black Patriot was anxious in the gate and almost stumbled at the break, but got right down to business under the guidance of jockey Ricky Ramirez. He was favored and got up to win by a nose on the outside. Final time for the 400-yard race was :19.614, earning a speed index of 99. The track was listed as muddy (sealed) for all three stakes tonight.

Finishing second was Jordan Eagle. Moment of Fury got the show, followed by This Guys a Volcom, Fast Prize Drew, Ahs Streakin Patriot, Abygale and Jakes Baby Wagon. New News and The Fish Cartel were both scratched from the race.

Live racing resumes Friday, October 12. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. First race post time is 6:05 p.m.
