10 Two-Year-Olds Vie for Their Share of $408,915 in Grade 1 Dash For Cash Futurity Saturday Night at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, October 4, 2013) - What an awesome race card Saturday, October 5 at Lone Star Park! 10 live races are scheduled, headlined by the 16th running of the $408,915 Grade 1 Dash for Cash Futurity for two-year-olds going 400 yards, the 16th running of the $161,500 Grade 2 Dash for Cash Derby for three-year-olds going 440 yards and the 10th running of the $45,435 Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes for two-year-olds going 400 yards. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. First live race is at 6:35 p.m.

You could make a case for just about each of the contenders in the $408,915 Grade 1 Dash for Cash Futurity. The qualifiers are separated from one through 10 by only two one-hundredths of a second.

Trainer Russell Harris had the fastest qualifier for the Grade 1 Dash for Cash Futurity in 2012 with Prince Valleyant who went on to win the Futurity only to be disqualified and placed sixth. Harris again had the fastest qualifier two weeks ago. Her O Don Won posted the fastest time of the night winning his trial in 19.570. Like Prince Valleyant last year, Her O Don Won is by sire Valiant Hero and will be ridden by veteran jockey Larry Payne. It's easy to like their chances.

The most accomplished two-year-old in the field, Separatist First Down has already won five of seven starts in his young career, two of those wins in graded stakes. The colt by Separatist, won the Grade 3 Harrah's Entertainment Futurity Stakes at Louisiana Downs in March and more recently the Grade 3 Gillespie County Fair Futurity at Gillespie County Fairgrounds in August. His career earnings so far are $147,853. Separatist Firstdown is trained by Isidro Flores and will be ridden by Eddi Martinez.

Alvarez, 10-1); Dont Text That (Jerry Lee Yoakum, 10-1); Rey Tiburon Rr (Edgar Martinez, 15-1); Separatist Firstdown (Eddi Emanuel Martinez, 7-2); J Bar (Juan Francisco Garcia, Jr., 5-1); Her O Don Won (Larry D. Payne, 4-1); Dynastys First Call (Ricky Ramirez, 12-1); Bye Bye Eagle Eye (G. R. Carter, Jr., 15-1); Thrill Me Baby (Raul Herrera, 20-1) and Cruzin (Roy Baldillez, 9-2).

Scheduled as race nine on the 10-race program, the $408,915 Grade 1 Dash for Cash Futurity has an approximate post time of 9:47 p.m.

Valiant Lil Lady Given Slight Favoritism in $161,500 Grade 2 Dash For Cash Derby

Valiant Lil Lady, winner of the 2012 $1 Million Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity here at Lone Star Park has been made the morning line favorite at 5-2 in the $161,500 Grade 2 Dash for Cash Derby Saturday. Owned by Bryon Gardner and trained by Judd Kearl, the filly by Valiant Hero will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo.

Top qualifier Louisiana Corona has posted four wins and two thirds from seven starts this year earning $125,957. She qualified for and ran in the All American Derby on September 1, but finished eighth after being bumped at the start causing her to lose her path. Trained by Luis Villafranco, the filly by Jess Louisiana Blue will be ridden by her regular rider, 10-time world champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr.

Prince Valleyant, disqualified winner of the Dash for Cash Futurity last year, has drawn the outside post and looks to redeem himself in the Derby Saturday.

The field for the $161,500 Grade 2 Dash for Cash Derby from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parentheses is: Secret Courage (Jerry Lee Yoakum, 10-1); Hiclass Vodka (James A. Flores, 15-1); Diamond Prize (Ivan Carnero, 9-2); Eyem Unstopable (Jimmy Dean Brooks, 6-1); Captain Strawfly (Esgar Ramirez, 8-1); Louisiana Corona (G. R. Carter, Jr., 3-1); Valiant Lil Lady (Rodrigo Sigala Vallejo, 5-2); Panther Blurr (Jose Amador Alvarez, 15-1); Prince Valleyant (Larry D. Payne, 10-1) and Rc Tres Times Seis (Raul Herrera, 8-1).

Scheduled as race eight on the 10-race program, the $161,500 Grade 2 Dash for Cash Derby has an approximate post time of 9:23 p.m.

10th Running of the Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes

The field for the $45,435 Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes is made up of those that just missed earning a spot in the Futurity. They are the 11th through 20th fastest times out of the trials two weeks ago.

Lindsayshadowdancer owned by King Camden Running Horses Inc. and trained by Judd Kearl, has been made the morning line favorite at 2-1. The filly by Valiant Hero has two wins, one second and one third from five starts with earnings of $32,513. She will be ridden by Rodrigo Vallejo.

The $45,435 Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes is the scheduled seventh race on the 10-race card. Approximate post time is 8:59 p.m.

The Bud Light Pura Musica Concert Series presents Michael Salgado in concert Saturday after the last live race in our Courtyard of Champions. The concert is free with $5 General Admission. Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. There will be live music between races on the Courtyard Stage throughout the night as well.
