Kite Flyer Dominates $33,030 Red Cell Distance Challenge at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, September 30, 2011) - Dark Horse Partnership’s Kite Flyer broke on top and never looked back in the $30,030 Red Cell Distance Challenge over a fast track Friday night at Lone Star Park.
Trained by Ryan Basham, the four-year-old gray Texas-bred son of Royal Quick Dash was never challenged and won comfortably. Jockey Santos Carrizales guided the winner to a final time of :45.197 for 870 yards, earning Kite Flyer a speed index of 102. It was three-and-a-half lengths back to Dashers Midnight in second and another length-and-a-half to Bonified Man in third.
With the win, Kite Flyer improved his record to five wins, two seconds and two thirds from 16 starts, the $16,515 winner’s share of the purse boosted Kite Flyer’s lifetime earnings to $53,038.
Kite Flyer paid $8.20 to win, $4.40 to place and $2.80 to show. Dashers Midnight returned $5.80 to place and $3.80 to show and Bonified Man paid $2.20 for show. Kudos for Quick Dash, Feature Showtime and Come in Houston completed the order of finish. |
