Rain and Two Disqualifications Shake Up Grade 1 Dash For Cash Futurity at Lone Star Park, One Handsome Man Emerges Victorious

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, September 29, 2012) - Prince Vallyant, owned and trained by Russell Harris was disqualified from first and was placed sixth after drifting out and causing interference to fifth place finisher, Jody Pops Zoomer in tonight's 15th running of the Grade 1, Dash for Cash Futurity. The track was listed sloppy (sealed) with steady light rain falling tonight at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie.

After what looked like an impressive repeat performance from his trail race two weeks ago, it was not to be for Prince Vallyant tonight. Lone Star Park Stewards posted an inquiry after the finish and after an in-depth review, announced the disqualification. Second place finisher, One Handsome Man was declared the official winner.

Owned by Flying Hooves RC LLC and trained by Ralph Muniz, One Handsome Man improved his lifetime stats to three wins and one second from five starts and with the winners’ share of $170,226 increased his earnings to $176,074.

One Handsome Man paid $5.60, 3.60, 3.20; runner-up Fdd Going Grand returned $12.40, 8.60, and The August Heat paid $7.60 for show. Send a Candy Guy, Jody Pops Zoomer, Prince Vallyant, Captain Strawfly, Rc Tres Times Seis, Apollo Ono and First Down Shazoom completed the corrected order of finish.

Eighth place finisher, First Down Shazoom was also disqualified from eighth and was placed
10th and last.

Chicks Smart Money an Upset Winner in Grade 2 Dash For Cash Derby

Favorite Jess Lips was not on his game tonight, which cleared the way for Chicks Smart Money to take the winner's share in the 15th running of the Grade 2 Dash for Cash Derby tonight.

Ridden by Cody Jensen, his second stakes win of the night, and trained by Robert Howard Dimitt for owners Joe L. and Judith O. Chappell Trust, the three-year-old gelding by First Smart Money put in a solid performance for the win, clocking the 440 yards in 21.320 seconds. The effort was rewarded with a handsome $80,910 winners share of the purse, increasing his lifetime earnings to $151,409 and upping his wins to six from 11 starts.

First Smart Money paid $14.00, $5.60, $4.40; second place finisher Fast Prize Mike returned $12.20, $5.80; and Lethal Volt paid $4.60 to show. Sweet Oblivion, Jess Lips, Jess Fly With Me, Windham and Tw Special Feature completed the order of finish.

Two horses were scratched from the race, Charming Chief Corona and Wahoo.

SS Poker Face Dream Ducks Out, Unseats Rider in Dash For Cash Juvenile Stakes

Jockey Cody Jensen piloted Wade Helton's Oilwagon to victory tonight in the ninth running of the Dash for Cash Juvenile Stakes. Trained by Alfredo Gomez, the two-year-old colt by Pyc Paint Your Wagon crossed the wire first posting a time of 19.680 for the 400-yard effort.

Favorite Ss Poker Face Dream broke on top, but ducked out halfway through the race and unseated his rider, Carlos Salas Castro. Castro was examined and released by EMT's after the incident.

Oilwagon returned $7.80, $4.40, $4.20; Second went to Sheaintcrynrealtears and returned $3.80, $3.60; and third went to Solid Rocky Top for $7.60. Macho Maggie, Classic Patriot, Captain Debut and First Flyn Dash completed the order of finish.

There were two scratches, Flirtingwithamiracle and Tayte Me Down.

More live racing action Thursday, Friday and Saturday, October 4, 5 and 6, 2012. Featured race of the week is the 16th running of the Refrigerator Handicap for three-year-olds and upward going 440 yards on Saturday, October 6.
