Joker on Jack on His Game in Grade 1 $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap Tonight at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, September 28, 2013) - What a game win by Joker On Jack in the 17th running of the $75,000 Refrigerator Handicap (G1) tonight at Lone Star Park. As a matter of fact, it was quite a game effort by the top four finishers with just a head, nose, head and head separating them at the wire.
With Raul Gutierrez in the irons, Joker On Jack who is owned by Wade and Jarrett Helton and trained by Alfrdeo Gomez, was just up at the wire clocking in at 21.310 over a muddy track. The effort earned a speed index of 98.
The three-year-old gelding by Pyc Paint Your Wagon paid $9.60, $5.20 and $3.80. Second place went to Jess Fly With Me, returning $8.00 and $4.40, and Charal Kid paid $2.80 for show. Feature Mr Bojangles completed the Superfecta. Lota Pyc, Loves Brown Sugar and Bar Struck completed the order of finish. A Toss Up was a late scratch.
With the winner's share of $45,750, Joker On Jack increased his career earnings to $314,678 and race record to 13-5-2-3.
Frankie B Takes Red Cell Distance Challenge Trophy
The Red Cell Distance Challenge Stakes went to Frankie B beating out favorite Wahoo by a length Saturday night at Lone Star Park.
Owned and trained by John Stinebaugh, Frankie B ran the 870 yards over a muddy track in 45.477 seconds, earning a speed index of 98.
Ridden by G. R. Carter, Jr., the four-year-old gelding by Tres Seis pressed the pace on the inside rail, took the lead mid-stretch and held the lead to the wire.
Frankie B paid $9.00, $3.20 and $2.20. Favorite, Wahoo paid $2.40 and $2.10 with Eye Shine At the Bar returning $2.20 in third. Ka Chingaching and My classic Zoomer completed the order of finish.
The winner's share of $16,474 increased Frankie B’s earnings to $62,042. His career record now reads 11-3-2-2.
Girlrilla Wins the $37,800 Merial Distaff Challenge
Crowson Racing's Girlrilla, guided by jockey Raul Herrera claimed the win in the final stakes race of the night, the Merial Distaff Challenge for fillies and mares.
Clocking the 400 yards in 19.661 was worth a speed index of 93 for the four-year-old mare by First Down Dash.
Girlrilla increased her career earnings to $25,729 from the $17,766 winner’s share earned for her effort. She now has three wins from eight lifetime starts.
Those with a win, place and show ticket on Girlrilla were rewarded with a payout of $8.00, $5.20 and $3.60. Second place went to Solid Anita Jo who returned $8.20 and $3.40. Entrap was third and paid $3.40. Lets Get Silk, Big Visions, Shelle Belle Blue, Rightamountofwrong, Prime Moon and Jodie Perry completed the order of finish.
