All About Larry Breaks Track Record in Tonight's Red Cell Distance Championship at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, September 27, 2012) - Diane Heath's All About Larry set a new track record tonight at 870 yards in the third running of the $34,830 Red Cell Distance Championship at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie.
It was definitely "All About Larry" when the bay gelding by Heza Motor Scooter and trained by John Stinebaugh, stopped the tele-timer at 44.206 besting the previous track record of :44.247 set in 2005 by Friends Rare Form. Finishing nine lengths in front of the rest, the impressive record setting effort earned him a speed index of 113.
With tonight's win, All About Larry improved his race record to nine wins from 20 starts, and with the $17,415 winner's share of the purse, increased his earnings to $98,934.
All About Larry paid $2.80, $2.10, $2.10; runner-up Kite Flyer returned $3.00, $2.10, and Eyeontheline paid $3.20 for show. Kudos for Quick Dash, Keep On Wishing and Icy Valentine completed the order of finish.
Bertha Venation Redeems Herself This Year in the $41,760 Merial Distaff Challenge
Jose Luis Salazar's Bertha Venation held off Endless Ocean at the wire to claim her fifth stakes win in tonight's third running of the Merial Distaff Challenge for fillies & mares at a distance of 400 yards.
Trained by Eusevio Huitron, the five-year-old bay mare by Corona Caliente redeemed herself from her second place finish in this race last year. With tonight's win, Bertha Venation’s race record improved to 21-8-4-2 and increasing her earnings by $19,210 for a total of $168,091.
Bertha Venation returned $6.00, $4.60, $3.40; Second place finisher Endless Ocean returned $3.60, $2.80; and show went to Painted Desires for $7.40. Awe Contraire, Allure Sr, Differently, Cartels Jess, Jess Sippin, Valiant Jess, Eyelene Runaway and High Class Jet completed the order of finish.
