Red Cell Distance Challenge and Merial Distaff Challenge Highlight Friday Night Race Card at Lone Star Park

(Grand Prairie, Texas - Thursday, September 27, 2012) - What a fitting name for the 4-5 favorite in Friday’s third running of the $34,830 Red Cell Distance Challenge at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie. It looks like it will be 'All About Larry' in the scheduled fifth race for American Quarter Horses, three-year-olds and upward contested at a distance of 870 yards over the main track.

Owned by Diane Heath and trained by John Stinebaugh, All About Larry, the gelded son of Heza Motor Scooter has chalked up four wins (two of them stakes) and one second from six starts this year earning $67,229 increasing his lifetime earnings to date to $81,519.

Kite Flyer appears to be the closest threat for All About Larry in this race. Owned by Dark Horse Partnership and trained by Ryan Basham, Kite Flyer just missed in the Distance Challenge at Sam Houston earlier this year. His four efforts this year (all stakes) have recorded two firsts, one second and one third, the son of Royal Quick Dash has increased his lifetime bankroll by $28,463 to a total of $94,001. Kite Flyer is the second choice in the morning line.

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, consists of: Eyeontheline (Danny Lavergne, 10-1); Keep On Wishing (Jeff Jerman, 30-1); Kite Flyer (Santos Carrizales, 5-2); Icy Valentine (Ricky Ramirez, 5-1); All About Larry (L. Martinez, 4-5) and Kudos for Quick Dash (Eddie White, 12-1).

Scheduled as race five on the nine-race program, the Red Cell Distance Challenge has an approximate post time of 8:11 p.m. (CT).

Bertha Venation Returns - Hopes for Redemption in this Year's Renewal of the Merial Distaff Challenge

Bertha Venation, owned by Jose Salazar and trained by Jonathan Castaneda, is back and looking to redeem herself from a second place finish in this race last year.

A bay daughter of Corona Caliente, out of the Texigo star mare Dash to Glory, Bertha Venation has won seven of 20 starts for $148,881. Bertha Venation finished second in the Grade 2, Dash For Cash Derby at Lone Star Park in 2010. Rodrigo Vallejo has the riding assignment.

The $41,760 Merial Distaff Challenge for fillies and mares three-year-olds and upward will be contested at 400 yards. It is the eighth scheduled race on the card with an approximate post time of 9:23 p.m. (CT).

The field from the rail out, with jockey and morning line odds listed in parenthesis, is: Cartels Jess (Bobby Lee Dow, 6-1); Valiant Jess (Jarrod Deschamp, 6-1); Differently (Jose Amador Alvarez, 10-1); Bertha Venation (Rodrigo Vallejo, 5-2); Allure Sr (Gilbert Ortiz, 4-1); Awe Contraire (Santos Carrizales, 10-1); Eyelene Runaway (Ricky Ramirez, 30-1); Endless Ocean (Raul Ramirez, Jr., 3-1); High Class Jet (David A.
