His Time to Deal Wins the $50,000 Lip Chip, LLC Stakes at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, September 24, 2022) - The $50,000 Lip Chip, LLC Stakes featured a field of nine accomplished Texas-bred Quarter Horses. Pete Scarmardo's His Time to Deal picked up the victory in a tightly contested 350-yard affair, returning $8.40 to the winning bettors.
The four-year-old sorrel gelding by Dealagame, out of a First Down Dash mare, Lady Lilia, stopped the clock at :17.576 in his half-length victory over Blazin the Moon. Ali Rivera was in the irons for trainer John A. Stinebaugh.
His Time to Deal's victory was his fourth win at the 350 yard distance from five tries and his first win at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie.
Just Wishn Upsets the Field in the $35,000 Karen Utecht Memorial Stakes
Also on the Saturday night card was the $35,000 Karen Utecht Memorial Stakes for Paint & Appaloosas.
Just Wishn scored the 16-1 upset in the 350-yard event over odds-on favorite Js Runnin Wire, returning $35.20 on a $2 win wager.
Francisco Raul Ramirez, Jr. rode the four-year-old gelding to victory in :17.600 on a fast track with a 5 mph tailwind. Just Wishn is owned by Sarah Huskey of Dallas, Texas and trained by Esteban Rubio.
This was Just Wishn's sixth lifetime win from 13 starts. and his third at Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie.
There were 4,462 in attendance for the Saturday night card. Total handle for the 12 races was $597,540.
