Mr Truly Uno and Ms Riptide Tie as Fastest Qualifiers for Dash For Cash Derby
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, September 24, 2010) - Jacque
Tanton’s Mr Truly Uno, winner of the sixth race, and James
Cordell’s Ms Riptide, who crossed the finish line first in
the eighth race during the Grade 1, $200,000 Estimated Dash For
Cash Derby trials on Friday night at Lone Star Park finished tied
for the fastest qualifying time for the finals to be run on Saturday,
Oct. 9.
Mr Truly Uno, trained by Dwayne Gilbreath and ridden by Joe Martinez,
broke a bit awkwardly but finished powerfully to beat Fishin Cr
by a nose at the wire in a winning time of 21.588 seconds in the
third of the six trials.
Two races later, Ms Riptide, trained by Judd Kearl with Rodrigo
Vallejo in the irons, broke first out of the gate and opened up
a 1 ½-length lead over the field before holding off the late
run of Call Me Fisher to win by ½ length while equaling the
evening’s best time. Both horses earned a Speed Index of 93
in their winning efforts.

parenthesis) for the Grade 1, $200,000 Estimated Dash For Cash Derby
to be run at 440 yards on Oct. 9 are:
