Politically Corrupt the Top Qualifier - Will Advance to the Grade 3 $235,600 Dash For Cash Derby at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, September 23, 2016) - The field is set for the 19th edition of the Grade 3, $235,600 Dash for Cash Derby to be held Saturday, October 8 at 440 yards. The top 10 horses that posted the fastest times from tonight's trials will advance to the final.
Politically Corrupt, owned by Double H Racing Investments and trained by Jose Sanchez, clocked the 440 yards in :21.608 seconds over a fast track, earning a guaranteed spot in the final. It was in the fifth race, breaking from the 10 hole with Manuel Gutierrez up, that the strapping sorrel gelding broke on top and took the lead straight away, then halfway through the race, kicked in another gear to post a two length margin over the others. The effort produced a speed index of 91.
There was at least one qualifier from all but the seventh race tonight. The eighth produced the most with three.
