Dash For Cash Futurity Trials Set for Saturday at Lone Star Park
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Friday, September 23, 2016) - 118 two-year-olds have been entered Saturday, September 24 for a chance to make it to the 19th edition for the Grade 2, Dash for Cash Futurity to be held on Saturday, October 8, and a share of the estimated $450,000 purse offered. There will be a total of 12 trial races. First race post time is 6:35 p.m. CDT.
Some of the juveniles competing are graded stakes winners, and some are unraced. Some have only a couple of starts and, for whatever reason, haven't shown their real talent and speed yet.
Only the 10 fastest youngsters will earn a spot in the starting gate for the lucrative Futurity final. A few of the top earners competing are:
Double A Ranch's Paint My Pilot has drawn into the first trial. A colt by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, he was second by a neck in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity in his most recent start. His record so far is 4-1-3-0, with earnings of $192,846. Paint My Pilot is trained by Kelli L. Martin and will be ridden by Yordanis Amaro.
Another of note in the first is Scarlett Hill Farm's Miss Alluring Menace. The daughter of Specially Alluring won the Grade 2 TQHA Sale Futurity last out a Retama in July. Her race record is 5-1-2-0, for earnings that total $199,938. She has the national leading trainer in Judd Kearl and will have jockey Jose Amador Alvarez in the irons.
The eighth race has a couple of standouts, as well. CoCoMo Racing's V Power, a gelding by Valiant Hero and Dustin R. Cox trainee, was second in the Grade 2 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity last April, and in May qualified for the Grade 1 $1 million plus Heritage Place Futurity, where he dead heated for fifth in the final. He has earned $240,473 from a record of 7-3-1-1. Joe Badilla, Jr. ships in for the mount.
Trey Wood has entered the Tres Seis filly Lethal Class. She qualified to and finished third in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity. Ricky Ramirez will ride for owners P. K. & Kim Thomas.
The 11th race has drawn a colt by American Runaway named Duponte. Owned in partnership by Bobby Cox and Homero & Kristen Ashley Paredes, He has won both the Grade 3 Harrah's Futurity at Louisiana Downs last March and in June, the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park. Duponte has amassed earnings of $578,679 so far in his young career. |
