Visual Magic Posted the Fastest Trial Time Tonight at Lone Star Park, Advancing to the Finals of the $30,000 Merial Distaff Challenge on October 3
(Grand Prairie, Texas - Saturday, September 19, 2015) - Two timed trial races were held tonight to decide the ten horses with the fastest times of which will advance to the final $30,000 Merial Distaff Challenge on October 3. There were 18 horses total split into two heats (races seven and eight on the card) at 400 yards.
Turner Farms' Visual Magic, a three-year-old Corona Cartel filly trained by Trey Wood, won the eighth race in :19.699 seconds, the fastest qualifying time. Margin of victory was a length and a half over favorite Lil Famous Dash, who finished second. The winner earned a speed index of 94 for the effort.
Seven of the final 10 qualifiers advanced from the eighth race tonight. Only the top three finishers from race seven were fast enough to qualify. They were winner Melovemetwo, second place finisher Catcha Breeze, and third placed Streakin Thru Fire.
Trainer Trey Wood qualified four horses, and trainer Cindi Keeton qualified two.
Two horses were scratched from the trials. They were Kateillac from the seventh and Zoomin Daphne from the eighth.
The qualifiers for the 2015 Merial Distaff Challenge to be held on Saturday, October 3 at Lone Star Park are in order by qualifying times are:
